About Me
Niroshehaa Ragunathan
BEng Hons PGCert
Hi, my name is Niroshehaa (நிரோஷிகா). I am an Eelam Tamil Bharatanatyam dancer from the U.K. Since completeing my formal education with a post graduate in Engineering, I promptly disappointed her parents by abandoning everything to start a performing arts school. Having moved to Canada in April of 2023, I am excited to deepen my practice as a dancer and actress. I am currently focussing on decolonising and deconstructing my Bharatanatyam and indigenous Tamil spiritual practices. I write for the Tamil Guardian.
Mission

I spent years unlearning the harmful and toxic messaging I was forced to take on to survive an unwelcoming majority white private school as a disabled asylum seeker from a lower socioeconomic background. I now hope to use the skills I was taught in these institutions to tell the stories they don’t want told.
I believe passionately in art’s role and ability to drive social change. I hope to tell stories that are often overlooked. I believe that art inspires us to dream of a better tomorrow built on justice, accountability, community and healing.
